Xingping is one of the crown jewels of the Li River in Yangshuo area. It is a 1,700 year old ancient town which developed through the Ming and Qing dynasties. It has been preserved as small and well-preserved with traditional architecture, cobble-stone streets now courting local coffee shops, craft stores, and authentic eateries.

Xingping's location along the Li River is also special with many beautiful angles to admire the stunning karst formations. Below is an exert of a map of the area with the key attractions around Xingping.

Laozhai Mountain is a bit challenging but rewarding 30-minute hike up to a peak overlooking the Li River and karst mountains. It is a must-do activity for sunset. Xingping old town is just out of view bottom of the photo.

Located in Dahebei village is the exact spot where the majestic bends of the Li River and surrounding peaks form the iconic landscape on the Chinese 20 RMB yuan note. It is also known as the Huangbu Reflection (Yellow Cloth Shoal).
