Happy Valley on Hong Kong Island, was home from July 1996 to early July 1997. I lived in a tiny apartment, 55 m² in May Mansion, 4 Shan Kwong Road, Happy Valley. This is at the Southern end of the Happy Valley Racecourse. I lived with Al Chalabi, who became a great friend. Al and his girlfriend at the time, Fiona, married and still live in HK. The photo below is Al and me hosting a party in our May Mansion pad. Also noting the Tyrell's Long Flat Red on the table, staple part of the diet!

We were a stones throw away from the racecourse which became a regular Wednesday night outing.

My work office was in Exchange Square, Central, and I would catch the bus to work however the tram home at the end of the day. Given the constant heat and humidity the bus had aircon for the morning trip in. The tram however has a magic, oddly calming and nostalgia to it making it my favourite mode of transport whilst in HK.
